Earth Day | April 22

April 12, 2015

campaign-keep-bali-cleanAn annual event first celebrated in 1970, Earth Day marks the anniversary of what some consider to be the birth of the environmental movement.

Proposed to honor the earth and the concept of peace on it, the day has evolved into an international movement coordinated by the Earth Daily Network and is celebrated in more than 192 countries every year.

Many communities worldwide host week-long activities focused on environmental issues, and it’s a quite popular day for activists and protesters to gather in making their voice heard about a variety of concerns related to the health of our beautiful planet. There may not be as much of a celebration for it in Bali, though you may find some activity up around Ubud, where there’s a growing movement of environmentally-conscious folk doing their part to increase sustainability on the island. And at the least, do your part to help Keep Bali Clean, in honorance of this wonderful planet we share. (Image credit: Keep Bali Clean on Facebook)
