GM Interview: The ANVAYA Beach Resort’s Sven Walter

The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali is South Kuta’s splendid newest addition that promises to impress. The five-star resort is beautifully designed with a mix of traditional and modern Balinese features, 495 modern and spacious guestrooms with 7 room categories and 1 stunning Anvaya villa. The resort recently introduced Mr. Sven Walter as its new General Manager; we caught up with Mr. Walter at the resort’s classically stylish Lounge for a chat. With decades of experience, Mr. Walter has a unique background in both culinary and management which he says he will use to his best advantage for the benefit of the resort and its guests.

Originally from Switzerland, Mr. Walter’s 30 years of experience includes time as an Executive Chef and a decade of managing luxury resorts in Asia. 14 years in the kitchen has truly brought great benefits to his current role as it has prepped him to understand and manage customer services, costing, timeline and other related challenges. Speaking on his new role, Mr. Walter said that Bali was a complete surprise; he came highly recommended and is immensely happy to now call the island his home. He plans to put The ANVAYA Beach Resort Bali onto the international map and recognized for its unparalleled offerings in terms of accommodations, service and overall customer experience. It is his personal view that the resort’s classically beautiful and luxurious interior and exterior, clever use of space and art fixtures combined with state-of-the-art service, amenities and luxurious décor would impress and keep guests returning. “The resort’s concept of bringing together traditional Balinese elements with today’s modernity and our strategic beachfront location in the heart of Kuta is definitely a wow factor,” he said. Guests know this all too well - the resort’s fantastic location is a favourite for families, solo travellers, honeymooners and adventurers alike. Kuta has many things to offer with plenty of attractions accessible by a few minutes’ walk - the world-famous water park; Waterbom Bali is only steps away. Dining and shopping are always pleasurable with myriad restaurants and shops to choose from. The resort itself caters to a diverse mix of both local and internationals who enjoy its peaceful ambience and direct beach access.

“We try to honour the Balinese people and their culture here as much as we can,” said Mr. Walter. Guests are encouraged to participate in daily Balinese rituals and activities like the making of the Canang Sari, Balinese dances, Balinese traditional wear and visits to the resort’s temple. The resort’s Kunyit Restaurant serves delicious Balinese and Indonesian food and hosts spectacular weekly performances like the Barong and Kecak Dance. Guests staying at the resort are encouraged to discover the enthralling beauty of Bali. “Venture out and explore, there is so much to discover yet in Bali,” said Mr. Walter.
