Season’s Favourites This Christmas

This December, Sereh Gourmet Supermarket, Bali’s gourmet utopia, invites you to create new traditions and memories with its holly jolly Christmas celebration that will take place throughout the entire month, featuring a delicious spread of traditional Christmas goodies. The perfect shopping destination for those looking for the freshest, quality, premium produce in an invitingly luxurious setting, Sereh Gourmet Supermarket also has its very own restaurant that serves amazingly delicious local favourites and international selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This festive season, you and your family can enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner at Sereh Café in its chic and uplifting environment throughout the month until 31 December 2017. Feast on a deluge of mouthwatering delights featuring the Roasted Deboned Chicken, or in Bahasa Indonesia, Ayam Kodok which means Frog Chicken when loosely translated. This is definitely not an everyday dish. Perfect for a  festive get-together like Christmas, the deboned chicken is stuffed with meatloaf, a combination of bread soaked in milk, ground chicken and beef, liver pate and hard boiled eggs seasoned with nutmeg, salt, pepper, sugar and a little bit of sweet soy sauce. All the goodness is sewn up inside the chicken before being put in the oven till done. To accompany your meal and to enhance the festive Christmas flavour, do order a round of eggnog, a drink that is traditionally consumed throughout Canada and the United States at Christmas season every year. This delicious drink is a mixture of milk, cream, sugar, whipped cooked eggs and sometimes, even rum, brandy or bourbon and topped with nutmeg or cinnamon. While eggnog is often served chilled, in some cases you can have it warm with a touch of whiskey.

Give your Christmas Dinner a local twist with the Chef’s surprise- the Manadonese Red Kidney Bean Soup or also known as Brenebon. This dish is derived from a traditional Dutch cuisine originating from colonial Indonesia but with a local take. Adopted by the people of Eastern Indonesia, the name “brenebon” is a local Ambon dialect for the Dutch “Bruine Bonen” which means Brown Beans or Kidney Beans. No Christmas meal is ever complete without a Christmas Pudding so be sure to order one for dessert. Also known as figgy pudding or plum pudding, the Christmas Pudding is a cake-like dish made during the holidays with copious amounts of dried fruits, raisins, figs, prunes and glacé fruits, as well as citrus zest and nuts.

Aside to dining, Sereh Café is the site for weekly exciting events including Salsa Night that takes place every Saturday from 7.00pm onwards. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome. Come by for dinner on Salsa Night with friends and family and be entertained by lively music. Plenty of exciting events happen here at Sereh all week including BBQ Night. In addition to fresh produce, guests can also find a fresh bakery, brewed coffee, a wine cellar, selected imported gourmet products, dry groceries, organic coffee, tea, spices and gifts.
