Sundays At Happy Chappy: Dim Sum And Bloody Mary’s

April 11, 2017

Dim Sum is great for any day and any time, but it is in our humble opinion that Dim Sum is best enjoyed on a Sunday along with some bloody good Bloody Mary’s at everyone’s favourite Chinese Restaurant in Bali, Happy Chappy Chinese.

Dim Sum Sundays, one of the outlet’s most awaited weekly events, is becoming an increasingly popular affair with families and friends coming in droves to fill up the tables and booths in the black-and-red imperial style outlet filled with some of the most fascinating Chinese memorabilia including dragon lamps, giant Chinese lanterns, old-style paintings and posters and of course the ever-popular happy Buddha that greets you at the door when you arrive. This renowned and Instagram-friendly interior, combined with delectable, authentic Cantonese cuisine is the reason why your brunch will most certainly turn into an afternoon soiree. In addition to over 40 different types of steamed and fried Dim Sum, you can also enjoy an immaculately delicious and refreshing Bloody Mary, 2 for the price of 1! So sit back, relax and select any platter that strikes your fancy from the Dim Sum cart like the Steamed Buns Bak Pao, Prawn Har Gow, Phoenix Talons, Salt & Pepper Squid, Sze Chuan Chicken Wontons or choose to order anything else from the diverse and always tantalizing menu. Some of our personal favourites include the Traditional Peking Duck, Shredded Beef Szechuan Style and the Kung Pao Chicken with Cashew Nut. Don’t forget to try their April highlights; Shu Mai Chicken and Crispy John Dory and Coriander Dim Sum and Live Freshwater Baby Garupa, Crispy Chicken with Cantonese Spicy Sauce and Braised Broccoli off the Special Menu. Priced between IDR 30,000 to IDR 40,000 per serving of dim sum, Dim Sum Sunday is the perfect excuse to spend some time with the family, to reconnect with your friends, for a relaxed and easy Sunday date or the answer to the ultimate hangover cure.

If you find yourself craving an icy cold glass of something, then head on over to the newly refurbished Dragon’s Den Bar at the very end of the restaurant, for a quiet and cool respite from the bustling world outside. Ask the bartenders for their recommendations but take our word for it, everything is good here, including our all-time favourite that we recommend to everyone; Enter The Dragon, a potent yet refreshing mix of gin, lemongrass tea, cucumber, lime juice and chili. Nothing else comes close! Other delicious must tries are The Shaolin; vodka infused tea citrus mango, mango liqueur, lime and Big Boss Drunken Tea; Vodka, gin, tequila, triple sec, Midori, cooled mango green tea, splash of sprite and the Tom Yang Martini; Light Rum, fresh lemon grass, ginger, kaffir leaves, hot chili and powered sugar. Want a classic? The menu features an extensive selection of martinis, wine, beer and spirits as well as a comprehensive coffee and tea collection.
