Timeless Classics At The Kopi Pot

Into its 27th year with a staunch following amongst its guests, the highly popular Kopi Pot Restaurant leaves no wonder as to why its customers keep coming back for more. Continuously serving up fresh, home-style cooked fare for a whole generation, the dining establishment has been building a keen following and hardy fan base since it first made its appearance in Kuta in 1990.

 

It is the sister restaurant of the Kuta institution, Poppies, of Poppies Cottage fame, that was the original landmark on a dusty palm tree road that once led to the beautiful Kuta Beach when it first opened 41 long years ago. So be assured – this local family-run hospitality business certainty know a thing or two when it comes to cooking traditional Indonesian cuisine for those visiting the island, as well as crafting the settings of each of their restaurants in a “Balinese” feel, yet comfortable enough to hang out at for several hours.

 

 

Street side in bustling Jalan Legian – a vibrant street with a lovely mixture of tourists, expatriates, and locals going about their business - Kopi Pot is a perfect spot for enjoying people watching at all hours of the day and night, while also featuring a more subdued garden area for those desiring some peace in the shade. The Lone Palm Bar area at the front is very popular come evening time, serving a long list of cooling cocktails (try the Banana Daiquiri is almost TOO good), as well as an array of long drinks and refreshing thirst quenching local beers (Bintang, anyone?), which always go down well no matter the time of day.

 


Upstairs on the terrace, the peaceful, lush surroundings create a relaxed space for added privacy. Breakfasts are well-served from here, a very good value, and extremely popular with those heading out for a surf or coming back from a long day at the beach. The fresh, icy juices are a real treat on hot days, and their fresh fruit salads and other healthy combinations on the menus are sure to nourish your body as well as please your taste buds.  During the daytime and into the evening, the menu remains more less the same, with timeless favorites such as Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng in meat, seafood, and vegetarian varieties – as well as Tuna in Sumatran Sauce, Cold Roast Beef Salad, Nicoise Salad, and Satay Lilit (fish kebab-style skewers), Chicken Curry Madras. And for dessert: the outrageously decadent homemade cakes and treats such as Black Forest Gateau, Mango Cheesecake, and Lemon Meringue Pie, to name but a few.
