What To Do During Rainy Season In Bali?
It’s Rainy Season in Bali!
Rainy season in Bali kicked off slightly later than usual this year and it’s no surprise that it’s everyone’s least favorite time of the year, especially the tourists. Although we usually have sunny skies all year round, during monsoon seasons, the rains can pour down all day and yes, for those who didn’t know, the wet season will continue on well into the month of March. Having said that, let’s state the obvious shall we – the rains can destroy your holiday on this otherwise sunny island of the gods, Bali. What with increased traffic, no way to sunbathe or swim at the beach and uncomfortable situations to sight-see, etc, its no wonder that the rains can turn many a happy holiday maker into a surely one. So now that we’ve hit the rainy season, be sure to always have an umbrella or a raincoat with you. Meanwhile, to help you make the most out of your holiday here, we’ve prepared a list of some interesting activities that you can enjoy indoors, even when it’s sloshing wet outside.
During the Dry Season, the waves of the flowing river are gentle, but in Rainy Season it tends to be stronger, providing a more exhilarating rafting experience. All rivers in Bali are class II to III, but may rise to class IV in the rainy season. The popular spot for rafting is along the Ayung River in Ubud, and Bali Adventure Tours (BAT) is a recommended rafting and tour operator in this area. Here you will enjoy a 2,5 hours ride through unspoiled rainforest, rice paddies views, and of course the stronger waves. For safety, always check with your tour operator whether it is safe to do rafting or not.
ATV & BUGGY RIDE
The muddy track is a heaven for all adventurous off-road lovers. Riding a specially designed off-road car or ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle), it is a combination of sport, adventure and sightseeing, where you can discover the natural of Bali, rice fields, Balinese traditional villages and conquer all obstacles along the track. Recommended tour operator for this adventurous is Bali Quad Discovery Tours.
If you prefer an indoor activity rather than activities outside like mentioned above, then Yoga is a good alternative to become one with your body and soul again after a long tiring day. There is nothing more peaceful than practicing Yoga with the sound of the rain as the background. Here are our recommendations for Yoga places in Bali:
Soham Spa & Wellness Center, Seminyak
Having just opened in a four story building with 2000 square meters of indoor training space, Soham Wellness Center Seminyak is an upscale facility with lavish décor, state-of-the-art equipment, an array of popular amenities – providing everything you need under one room to cater to your health and wellness…

Yoga, pilates, total body workout classes for building strength, flexibility, cardio, balance, agility, and muscular alignment – they’ve got it all.
There are also spa facilities with a range of traditional massages from Javanese Urut, Balinese & hot stone massage, Royal Thai, aromatherapy, body scrubs, ayruvedic& beauty treatments, and plenty more. And when you’re finished and ready to replenish, visit the SOHAM Healthy Café for some delicious & nutritious low-calorie and raw food selections, cold juices, and light meals. Tucked away in the Village of Kendran, Tegalalang, approximately 15 minutes from the center of Ubud, BeingSattvaa, meaning essence or goodness in Sanskrit, has been set up with the notion of letting you immerse yourselves in an authentic wellness experience. With the principle of balance as the core idea of this villa complex, guests are invited to find their harmonious state – at peace with himself and the surrounding.
More than a place to rest and relax, BeingSattvaa also incorporates a routine that includes the four pillars of wellness: Exercise, Nutrition, Mindfulness Practice and Rest and Relaxation. As a recommendation, book a yoga class where you will be immersed in its Yoga Pavilion located at the edge of ravine and overlooks a native rainforest. As you exhale the air from the lung to end the yoga session, you will know that your mind and soul are now ready to conquer upcoming challenges in your life.
Other thing that might be interesting to do during the rainy season in Bali is to gather with local Balinese people in the village, if you’re lucky you will find lots of kid playing with mud “Mud Fight” and you are always welcome to join them. We hope you still enjoy your Bali Holiday during this rainy season. Display image credit: picssr.com
