Kuta, Bali, 2023. Hard Rock Hotel Bali’s commitment to the environment continues with this year’s Earth Hour, an annual global lights-out event organized by the conservation organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This event is one of the world’s largest efforts to save the planet, involving millions of people in 187 nations and territories.

On March 25, 2023, all non-essential lights were turned off at 8:30 p.m., and candles were lit throughout the hotel for one hour to help bring awareness to climate change; from the iconic Giant Surfboard to the hotel lobby, Centerstage, all restaurants and swimming pools. Guests at the Sand Island enjoyed a Barefoot BBQ dinner and were offered unique flaming cocktails during Earth Hour. The evening was delightfully wrapped out with acoustic music and fire dance performances, all prepared without the use of electricity and surrounded by atmospheric traditional bamboo torches.

A few days earlier, another event similar to Earth Hour was held to celebrate the Balinese New Year called Nyepi or the Silent Day. The entire island was given a 24- hour pause to breathe in peace without vehicles buzzing through the streets, nighttime lights, entertainment and travel restrictions. With both events taking place in Bali, it has a significant impact on efforts to conserve Bali’s nature and the environment.

Throughout the years, the Hard Rock International and WWF partnership have helped conserve more than 603,000 kilowatts to date through the Earth Hour movement. Hard Rock, with “Save The Planet” as one of its four founding mottos, is devoted to always participating and inspiring everyone that every small effort to protect the environment can have a significant impact on environmental preservation.
